Wednesday Wants: 21 Jump Street DVD set

Wednesday Wants is getting kind of wacky.  First that personal air conditioner post made "mind control device" one of the most popular search terms used to find this blog, and now I am going to talk about my love of "21 Jump Street."

  I was never allowed to watch this show (or much else on FOX) when it was actually being broadcast.  I  do remember the commercials for this and for "A Current Affair" and they kind of scared me.  I guess I understood the word "affair" well enough to know that it wasn't something for children, even though I don't even know what they discussed.  "21 Jump Street" commercials were always so serious.  "Tonight, on a very special episode of '21 Jump Street"....

Imagine my surprise when my husband and I bought a DVD for $1.99 and found that the show is hilarious (though perhaps not on purpose)!  If you haven't seen it, you should really give it a try.  Do it for Doug Penhall.

Wednesday Wants: Chevy Bel Air Station Wagon

Growing up, my dad loved classic cars.  Aside from the bikini girls that were always standing next to them on hot rod magazines, so did I.  I may not know much about the mechanics of cars, but I can certainly recognize good design! :)

As was the case for many girls my age, my first classic car love was Barbie's '57 Chevy.  My dad had an El Camino and an Impala.  When it was time to get my license, I was dying for a Chevelle.  Now my first choice would be a Chevy Bel Air station wagon (as seen above).

While I'm on the classic car topic, my husband and I went to an awesome show this past weekend in downtown Raleigh.  

Raleigh frequently closes down its main drag for street fairs, and I was so excited that they did that for the car show!  The weather was perfect for it!

It was such a great afternoon.  It didn't hurt that we stumbled upon (the brand new) Beasley's Chicken and Honey on the way home and had a bite to eat!

Wednesday Wants: luludee

I love this plywood print from Laura Carignan's Etsy shop, luludee!

As someone who has a number of unframed prints waiting for the day they'll be displayed, I love things that are all finished and ready to hang!

I also love this card!  It makes me think of this:

and that's definitely a good thing.

Wednesday Wants: Personal Air Conditioner

I've spent a bit of time outside the past couple of weeks, and it's been so hot that I think the existence of these things is actually justified.

It's so hot that wearing a dog collar/ mind control device in public might actually be worth it!

Wednesday Wants: Kings Dominion

This week I have a different kind of Wednesday Want- a destination!  I really want to go to Kings Dominion near Richmond, Virginia!

I grew up nearby and we used to have season passes every summer.  Some weeks we would go more than once since we had friends that also had season passes.  

It's changed a lot there over the years, but I could still find my way around with my eyes closed! :)

Wednesday Wants: IAdornU Arrow Bracelet

Wednesday Wants is starting to become an expensive feature on my blog!  Most of the time, it seems that I end up buying the object in question.  In this case, it's already on its way to me.

I saw this adorable bracelet from iadornu on Amy's blog and immediately fell in love.  The last bracelet I wore with any frequency was probably sloppily braided by a ten year old back in the day a slap bracelet, but I could see myself wearing this one all the time.  Now I can't wait to wear it with everything! :)

Tugboat Print Shop does such beautiful work!  Unfortunately, the print above is from an edition that is sold out, but it has been on my favorites list for years now!

Wednesday Wants: Threadless/Society 6

I ultimately couldn't decide between these two things, so here are two Wednesday Wants!

Okay, so obviously this is not a picture of a t-shirt, but I'm sure you can imagine it on a t-shirt.  Visualization Hint: the t-shirt is off-white.

Totally Random Story:

This t-shirt resonates with me for a very specific reason.  Many years ago, my sister and I used to go and play with a friend, whom we'll call Tina, when my mom was taking classes for her Master's Degree.  One day, I decided I wanted my sister and Tina to be horses, while I played the unicorn.  They were supposed to catch me and try and turn me into a horse.  Unfortunately for them, I was determined to remain a unicorn.  After I escaped capture for the sixth time, Tina got very irritated and started calling me "bossy."  This turned into an argument, which resulted in my sister and I not getting awarded the McDonald's Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers Happy Meal toys we had been promised if we didn't fight at Tina's house.

(I would like the shirt even more if the unicorn was telling the horses to "suck it!")

Anyway, cool shirt!

Here's the other item I just couldn't resist today.  After upgrading my phone (and losing the possibility of using my beloved smiling food case), I've been using a plain black case.  I hadn't really been on the lookout for something else until this caught my eye.

I'm a sucker for smiling inanimate objects hanging out together, what can I say?

  These needle felted bear skin rugs from FforFelt are hilarious!  I would love to have a full sized version to lay in front of our (unused) fireplace!

Wednesday Wants: Pop-up Flash Bounce

We've spent some dollars at the Photojojo store over the years and it looks like it's about to happen again!

This handy dandy little thing slips right into the hot shoe of your DSLR and then bounces the light from your on-camera flash up to create more even lighting.  This is an awesome thing to be able to accomplish without something else that contains batteries.

I was browsing Three Potato Four when I came across this door.  I've got to admit that I would love to have it, despite my initial skepticism.

It's so interesting how everyday objects change over the years and decades.  There haven't been immense advances in the world of screen doors since then, but the little details are so perfect.  I can totally see Lassie scratching at this door to alert Timmy's mom that he's fallen in the well (again).

I love this purse organizer!  My purse is generally a big mess, and something this cute would be a fun way to whip it into shape!

Wednesday Wants: Flux Glass

I love, love, love (three loves for three birds) this set of bird mirrors from Flux Glass based in Asheville, NC!  These mirrors, made by Dennis Smith, are the only items I've come across in person that I already had as a favorite on Etsy.

There are a ton of other original mirror designs in the Flux Glass Etsy store, including deer heads and mirrors in the shapes of states.  I'm going to have a hard time resisting if I see Virginia!
